Hexagon mugs collection

Hexagon mug collection in various clays and glazes

This short coffee mug is made of speckled buff clay and glaze simply with four layers of blue rutile by Amaco. It’s wabi sabi imperfections make it adorable.

This was the first of all the hexagon mugs I’ve made. It’s hand built with dragonfruit clay and glazed inside with textured turquoise and arctic blue alternating panels. The outside panel has satin matte black at the bottom and honey flux and textured turquoise up top. All ~3 layers.

An almost uniform hexagonal mug made with bmix clay. The gloss outside is Amaco’s C27 storm and inside is honey flux (about four layers) with drips of storm. Bonus: a saucer!

Another wibbly wobbly hexagon mug, made with dragonfruit clay. Inside is painted with firebrick red followed by arctic blue heavy drips. The outer panel/stripe consists of satin matte black at the bottom and honey flux up top, with touches of firebrick.

This wabi sabi pair of tall mugs are made with speckled buff clay. I tried several glaze combinations on this set—oatmeal, honey flux, arctic blue, blue rutile, satin matte black, indigo float, and so on.

A small, black clay hexagonal mug. Simple gloss and simply stylish.

For this small dragonfruit hexagon mug, I wanted to try mixing white gloss with storm for the small squares pattern. The white makes the storm more opaque and looks great next to the plain storm rim. The inside is satin matte white with c27 storm drips.

For this dragonfruit mug I wanted to see more of how the firebrick red and smokey merlot interact with honey flux. The drips show a deeper red and purple, with the satin matte black showing through some blue separation as well. Inside this cup is pure smokey merlot.

These two mugs are my favourite design so far: dragonfruit clay, satin matte white inside with drips of color, and C27 storm or blue rutile as the hero.

Another fun handle design for this dragonfruit mug. This time I kept the glaze simple with just a satin matte black rim and panel and honeyflux for the rest.

This chunky bmix clay mug is glossed with another glaze experiment. This time, I chose iron lustre topped with oatmeal to bring out the oil spill/rainbow of colors you can see. The lower panels are all glossed with satin matte black.

Who wouldn’t want a black clay espresso or shot mug made in the shape of a hexagon.
